A technical expert team of the State Archeology Department (SAD) led by its Chairman Professor Gopal Chandra Mitra on Saturday paid a visit to the 300-year-old Baladevjew temple in order to inspect the temple’s safety and access the ongoing temple refurbishment and maintenance works. The team comprised experts Naba Kishore Rath, Harihar Senapati and Sachindranath Rajguru.

According to SAD Curator Aswini Satapathy, the expert team inspected the innermost sanctorum of temple (garbha griha) and decided to de-plaster it to undertake joint sealing. The experts also inspected the Bhoga Mandap (the middle temple). They asked for its renovation as the four pillars of the Mandap has become weak. The expert team asked the engineers of SAD to carry out the renovation work completely by de-plastering all the four walls of the Mandap.

It may be noted here that the temple renovation and refurbishment work is going on since November 2012 by the SAD experts here with an allocation Rs 30 lakh under a Central grant.
