The city’s film fans got a chance to watch noted film director Sabyasachi Mohapatra’s award-winning Odia film AadimVichar (The Ancient Justice) here at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan on Thursday. The Mukta Chintana Mancha, Odisha organised the event including a discussion on the topic “Odia Chalachitra ra Diga O Diganta.”

Participating in the discussion, Sabyasachi Mohapatra said everyone nowadays wants fast food. Adoption and remake of a film is not bad, but there should not be exact copy-and-paste. He said, “To make a good film, encouragement and support is necessary for a producer. We don’t have sufficient subsidy in our State for making films.”

“I always try to keep our culture and tradition in my films. Golden age of film industry will come when our films will be based on Odia stories, novels and dramas,” Mohapatra added. Renowned poet Ramakanta Rath said, “We don’t have good stories in our films like before. Directors should concentrate on the story of a movie. Originality, culture and tradition are lacking in our films now,” he rued.

Among others, writers Satakadi Hota and Pratibha Ray also spoke. Actresses of the film Tapaswini Guru and Smita Panda shared some of their experiences at the time of shooting of the movie. Mukta Chintana Mancha secretary Pitabasa Routray coordinated the programme. The screening of the film got a huge applause.
