S’pur BSE office fire: Police still clueless

PNS

Even after 30 hours of the incident of burning of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Regional Ofice here, police were clueless about the culprits on Thursday.

However, office Deputy Secretary Suryamani Majhi, in consultation with the BSE head office, Cuttack, lodged an FIR in the local police station on the day. Though he didn’t mention any name, yet he alleged that lawyers were involved in the incident.

Teachers of the district, who came to the office for different works, stated before the police that the persons who set fire in the office were lawyers. They also didn’t tell any name.

Sambalpur SP Sanjiv Arora said, “We are investing the case from all angles. We hope we can nab the culprits soon.”

Since no staff dared to make a video of the incident out of fear and there are no CCTV cameras in the office premises, it has become a herculean task before the police to identify the culprits.

When asked, Sambalpur Collector Samarth Verma said that there would be absolutely no problem for the students to appear at the final HSC examination on February 22, 2019.“Even the forms of the students are burnt, other suitable arrangements are being made so that not a single student would be deprived of the examination. Work in this respect has already begun,” he added.
