In one of the largest drug hauls in the State, the Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch has seized brown sugar worth over Rs 3 crore during a raid in Mayurbhanj district.
Based on intelligence inputs, an STF team conducted raid in the Kuliana area on National Highway-16 and seized the contraband weighing 3.2845 kg from possession of a dealer.
The officials also recovered incriminating materials from the accused.
The drug peddler was arrested and investigation was underway, the Odisha Police said in a release.
Due to sustained crackdowns against the illegal drug trade, the STF alone has seized s total of 15.648 kg brown sugar, including the day’s seizure, and detected 20 cases against the drug peddlers in 2020. So far, as many as 40 drug peddlers have been arrested by the STF.
