Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday urged Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu for introduction of Humsafar type new AC express train from the Khurda Road Station to Mumbai as a mark of respect to the bicentenary of Paika Rebellion led by Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar Mohapatra. He also requested Prabhu for a daily train namely “Buxi Jagabandhu Express” in the route of Puri/Khurda Road to Mumbai via Sambalpur. “I would like to draw your attention to the historic Paika Rebellion that had occurred in Odisha in the year 1817. This year, we mark the bicentenary of the epic event in Odisha’s history. I would like to convey the feelings of Odia people to commemorate Buxi Jagabandhu’s contribution to our history by introducing a Humsafar type new AC express train from Khurda Road Station, the epicenter of the rebellion, to the maximum city of Mumbai,” Patnaik said in a letter to Prabhu.
He further urged that Buxi Jagabandhu Express train in the milestone year of 2017 will be a fitting tribute from the Railways to this iconic leader.
