PNS

Amid bad days for workers of different units of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), including the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) for inordinate delay for 57 months in wage revision, it’s now good news for them that there was a consensus on their bonus issue in the National Joint Committee for Steel (NJCS) meeting held on Tuesday in New Delhi that each of them working in different units would get Rs 21,000 and each trainee worker Rs 19,000 as bonus this year. According to Himansu Bal, president of Rourkela Ispat Karakhana Karmachari Sangh, an affiliated wing of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, the SAIL authorities proposed to change in SPI (Standardised Precipitation Index) formula, but proposal was rejected by all unions. Finally, it was decided to go for direct bargaining method. While  unions urged for Rs 25,000 bonus, the management finally agreed for aforesaid amounts.
