The Rourkela Sector-3 police have detained a Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) employee over a complaint that he ditched his lover, a woman co-employee, after she gave birth to a baby.
Source said a widow of Sector-4 was serving in the RSP’s Town Services department. Another RSP employee Md Chhota, who belongs to Kalunga area, was visiting the Town Services department to enquire about the quarter allotment status. After a few visits between them, they developed affairs. Three months back, the woman gave birth to a baby. She claims that Chhota has fathered the baby.
As Chhota started keeping distance from her, the victim lodged a complaint with the Mahila police station seeking justice. But the Mahila police did not turn to her help reportedly coming under pressure from certain ruling party leaders.
On Sunday evening, the beleaguered woman approached the Sector-3 police station with the help of certain women activists. Acting on her complaint, the police here made a search drive and managed to nab Chhota from the Hotel Tridev at Panposh.
While the Sector-3 police have registered the victim’s FIR, the denizens here are still trying to know why the Mahila police station, which has been set up for protection women, did not turn to Sasmita’s help.
