The Shahi Exports Private limited on Thursday launched the process of setting up of an apparel manufacturing unit here with an investment of Rs36 crore. The unit, with a capacity of producing three lakh dresses per month, would provide direct employment for about 2,500 people.

The construction work of the proposed unit would be completed within one year for which Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone at the Mancheswar Industrial Estate here on Thursday. “The State Government has been giving priority on textile industries as it generates more employment. The State has been contemplating to set up two integrated textile parks at Choudwar and Bhadrak,” said Patnaik after laying the foundation stone of the unit.

Hopeful of more investments in the textiles sector, Patnaik said Shahi Exports’ efforts to set up an export oriented apparel unit in the State would encourage others to invest in the State.
