INTUC national vice-president and former MP Dr Rama Chandra Khuntia on Thursday demanded pension of Rs 9,000 per month to Provident Fund pensioners. He was addressing a gathering at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
He said that it is shameful that retired employees are getting a monthly pension of less than Rs 2,000 which is not obviously enough to meet their daily needs.
Dr Khuntia demanded that the Central Government look into the matter at the soonest and provide pension of Rs 9,000.
