The Modi Government has sanctioned Rs 8.2 crore to provide mortgage-free loans to roadside vendors in urban areas of Odisha under the Pradhan Mantri Swa-nidhi Yojana and so far released Rs 0.81 crore for the State.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan informed this on Tuesday. He said Odisha is among 10 States which would benefit the most. Roadside vendors in Sambalpur, Cuttack, Brahmapur, Baleswar and other towns have already benefitted.

The street vendors would get a 7%-rebate in interest on regular payments. The vendors repaying the loan would get Rs 1,200 back in their bank account digitally. All types of banks would provide loans at the doorstep, he said.
