The kin of all four police personnel, who have died due to Covid-19 under the Ganjam police district, have been given Rs 50-lakh ex-gratia each as per a State Government announcement.Ganjam SP Brijesh Kumar Rai handed over the amounts in cheques to the corona warriors’ family members at his office premises here on Wednesday. Rai expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for sanctioning the ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh to the spouse of each police Covid warrior, who laid down their lives while performing Covid-19 duty.
The compensation would be paid without any delay to the family members of such warriors who lose their lives fighting the deadly virus in the larger interest of the public, he added.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had earlier announced for payment of Rs. 50 lakh to the next of kin of each police Covid warrior who dies of the pandemic in the State.
