Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted cash of Rs 25 lakh and also ornaments from the lockers of an unguarded UCO Bank branch at gunpoint in Bhograi of Baleswar district on Tuesday afternoon. Though police have intensified investigations with a forensic squad and launched a hunt for the culprits by sealing the borders they are still clueless.Reports said the five masked miscreants came by three bikes.

While one of them stood guard at the entrance the fours others  barged into the bank at Chauki in Bhograi and terrorised the Cashier, other bank staffs and around 20 customers by brandishing arms.

Then the robbers locked the cashier and other staffs in a room  and took the lockers keys and looted the ornaments besides the money. While two of the robbers were conversing in Odia, the others were speaking in different languages. But before fleeing they took the bank’s CCTV hard disk with them from which it is suspected that they were professionals. Besides, they completed the whole operation in just 15 to 20 minutes.Though the area is close to the West Bengal border, it is not known whether they fled to that side or are still hiding somewhere in the district.
