Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during his visit to Sundargarh district on Wednesday, besides dedicating the service of the Rukuda irrigation dam project to public, claimed that his Government has been working for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden of the society.
CM also laid foundation stone for the projects of Bonei and Kuanrmunda blocks.
Patnaik addressing a large gathering at a Biju Janta Dal programme at Bonei claimed that, “The farmers’ interest is paramount for my government and therefore there can be no compromise in respect of farmers' interest in the State.”
Patnaik said, “During the year 2000 (when he took over as the CM) the irrigation budget was Rs 850 crore only which has gone up to as high as Rs 10,200 crore now”. About Rs 25,000 crore will be spent in next five years towards various irrigation projects of the State, Patnaik added.
“My government had set a stiff target of irrigating about 10,000 hectares of land of the State within 2019, which is going to be fulfilled soon," Pattnaik said.
