A 50-year-old woman from Manipur, who had lodged a complaint against Colonel AN Singh posted in the NCC Group Headquarters in Sambalpur of sexual harassment, finally tied the nuptial knot with him in the Maneswar temple on Sunday.
As per the complaint, she met the Colonel in Imphal in 2013. She had been in a relationship with him since then. Col Singh, who is a widower, kept physical relationship with the Manipuri women promising her of marriage. However, later Singh backtracked. Further he got transferred from Imphal and joined in the NCC at Sambalpur.
Being harassed, the woman lodged a complaint in the Mahila police station in Sambalpur against Singh on January 28 last. She had also called on the Sambalpur Superintendent of Police Akhilesvar Singh, seeking justice. A case, based on the report, under Sections 493 and 354 was also registered in the Mahila police station. She stayed in an Ashram in Sambalpur after lodging the case and continued fighting for justice. The police had also issued notice to the Colonel in this regard. But putting an end to all these, finally the woman tied knot with Singh.
“They had been in a relationship for the last three years. However, because of some reasons, a misunderstanding had taken place between the two. But, the Colonel has accepted her as his life partner. The marriage was solemnised as per the Hindu rites at a temple in Maneswar area of the city,” said social worker Kalpana Mishra, who was present during the marriage as the guardian of the woman.
