A 32-year-old youth was arrested and forwarded to court by the Rourkela police on Sunday allegedly for bungling Rs 30 lakh from his employer’s bank account. Police are now searching another two accused in the case to arrest them.

Santosh lahiri(32), a resident of Jagda here, had been employed as a manager by one Dilip Sahoo, a resident of Qr.No.C-45, Koel Nagar here, to manage Kshitij Travels which Sahoo owns. lahiri had been working in the company since 2007. Sahoo  had gone to Ranchi in 2014 to stay there and look after another organisation which he had opened there. According to sources, Kshitij Travels has an account in ICICI Bank at Bisra road and another in UCO bank at Sector-19 here. When Sahoo started living in Ranchi, he had left signed cheque book with manager lahiri for smooth functioning of Kshitij Travels.

Sahoo was in regular touch with lahiri and was enquiring lahiri’s activities.

But on a day suspecting activities of lahiri, Sahoo came to Rourkela on September 16 last and on inquiring his account status in ICICI and UCO Bank, he came to know that lahiri had bungled Rs 30 lakh by using his signed cheques. Sahoo also came to know that during this time, lahiri himself opened a new travel agency in the name of RS Travels at Ispat market here. Sahoo lodged an FIR in Jhirpani police station on October 1 against lahiri. Jhiripani police detained lahiri on Saturday night and interrogated him and later arrested him.
