Strong resentment sparked here on Monday against Jaiprakash Hospital over alleged exploitation of Covid patients as Congress activists staged a demonstration before the hospital and the BJP alleged that the hospital had been looting patients.
Congress activists under the leadership of former Biramitrapur MLA George Tirkey staged the demonstration alleging that the hospital has been exploiting Covid patients as it is charging as high as Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 per day as the ICU charge.
"Particularly when the State Government has been bearing the entire expenditure of Covid treatment, how this hospital is charging hefty fees from patients," Tirkey questioned. His party also submitted a memorandum addressed to Additional Chief Secretary Pradipta Mohapatra in this regard.
BJP spokesperson Dhiren Senapati in a Press meet launched a scathing attack on the hospital and demanded that the hospital return the fees to patients soon.
