The BJP on Thursday intensified protests against the decision of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) to hike the power tariff demanding an immediate rollback of the move.
Bhubaneswar district BJP members led by president Babu Singh, Jagannath Pradhan, and others held demonstrations in front of all the eight electrical sub-division offices in the city.
At a time when the Covid pandemic has affected the lives and livelihood of many, the State Government has burdened the people with higher power tariffs. The decision should be withdrawn or else massive protests would be launched across the State, the protestors warned.
Notably, the OERC had recently approved a proposal to hike power tariff by 20 paise per unit of electricity consumed in the State from October 1.
