KSHIRABDHI TANAYA

The rouge boar that had killed a person and injured half a dozen was nabbed dead in Kendrapada on Thursday. The district administration had to clamp Section 144 CrPC within 50 metre radius of Chakroda panchayat office to prevent entry of locals to the area, where the boar was suspected to have hidden.

The step was taken to facilitate the work of the Forest personnel in capturing the boar without the interference of locals. Notably, the boar had been on a biting spree in last one week at Jhinkadi (Hatabanapur), Saharpur under Chakroda panchayat.

On Thursday, Kendrapara Tehsildar-cum-Executive Magistrate Dharitri Mishra, Forest personnel led by DFO of Cuttack Sudarshan Behera, a special tranquilizer team and the IIC of Kendrapara Sadar police station along with a police team rushed to Chakroda lock area in order to carry out “Capture Rogue Wild boar” operation. A couple of JCB machines were pressed into service to clear the bush. At Chakroda lock area, the team came across the wild boar lying dead with multiple injury marks.

According to DFO Behera, the dead wild boar is going to be sent for postmortem at a local veterinary. It may be noted here that tension had erupted in the locality on Wednesday after the rogue wild boar attacked a local youth Khirod Mohanty of Saharpur. An irate mob had assaulted the forest personnel with lathis and pelted stones at them. Four forest personnel, including the Ranger of Kendrapara, had sustained injuries.
