Road widening works have turned out to be a nightmare for the denizens of the town here.
Keeping in mind the safety of the commuters, the administration has proposed to widen the Umarkote-Nabarangpur and Umarkote-Raighar main road to 33 feet, yet at some places in the town, the road measures less than the fixed width.
The Umarkote-Raighar main road widening which is under progress is also less than 23 feet. The irregularities have created doubts on the efficacy of the Revenue and PWD departments.
Reacting to this, residents of Gulipatna and Bhanja Chowk have lodged protest before local Tehsildar Tarini Suna. PNS
The residents of the town have decided to stage protest against the local and district administrations. The administration, buckling under pressure from some influential persons and politicians, has made a compromise in widening the road, they alleged.
