With an objective of promoting Odisha as a preferred tourist destination, the State Tourism Department organised a road show at Panaji in Goa on Tuesday.

Since Goa is thronged by a lot of foreign and domestic tourists, the tour operators and travel agents from Odisha held a ‘Business to Business Meet’ with their counterparts from Goa to lure more tourists to the State.

In the morning, a brief presentation on Odisha tourism was made by Tourism Director MR Patnaik. OTDC MD, Assistant Director of Tourism SC Mohanty and CMO RK Pattanayak were also present.

The evening session was attended by the local tour operators, travel agents and officials from other State Tourism Departments including Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Goa and India Tourism.

During the presentation, Patnaik highlighted the exclusive ‘Mahaparinirvana Express’, which will be flagged off from Delhi on December 23 and reach Odisha via Varanasi and Bodh Gaya to promote the Buddhist sites of the State.

He also threw light on the International Buddhist Conference, scheduled to be held here in February 2014.
