PNS

Residents of the Redhakhol NAC and the nearby Burda gram panchayat have strongly opposed the proposals for opening of new foreign and country liquor shops at different places in the town and suburbs.

A large number of people led by Burda Sarpanch Panchali Mahakud and NAC Councillor Aditya Narayan Pradhan met the Sub-Collector and urged him to stop the proposals as they don’t fulfill Excise Department norms.

They alleged that the places chosen for establishment o f liquor shops are close to schools, temples and residential area. Moreover, many Government offices, including a SBI Branch, are near a proposed place.

“As proposed places are not at all suitable for liquor shops, we urged the Sub-Collector to stop all such proposals with immediate effect,” said Anita Behera and laxman Pradhan. They alleged that the local administration has planned to open a liqour shop on the side of the main road along the Burda gram panchayat.

“It is sure that innocent people will be the victims of the drunkards. We requested the Sub-Collector to respect the people’s demand,” Sarpanch Panchalai Behera.
