Income Tax sleuths conducted raids on Shanti Memorial nursing home and houses of its owner, a doctor, at Bhubaneswar and Rourkela simultaneously on Tuesday.
However, the sleuths did not divulge details about the raids. Sources said about 40 I-T officials conducted the raids. It was alleged that the nursing home owner has been evading taxes for many years.
It may be noted here that the sleuths had also conducted a raid on the office of Basukinath Road Ways at Barsuan and its owner’s house here on February 25 last. Many tax evaders from Rourkela are under the IT department scanner, sources said.
