During a recent one-day visit to Rourkela, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma said the State Government is set to implement the National Food Security Act (NFSA)-2013 and the process of identification of beneficiaries under the NFSA has been initiated in the State from January 28. The process would begin in Rourkela from March 15. A total of 388 registration centres will be opened in Sundargarh, where the registration forms would be deposited by the beneficiaries for availing of new BPl and APl cards, said minister.
As Sundargarh district is a tribal-dominated district, provisions are made for auto-inclusion of 13 tribal communities under the scheme. Under the scheme, each beneficiary will get 5 kg food grains at Rs 1 per kg. About 85 per cent rural population and 60 per cent urban population and in total 78 per cent people will be directly benefited from this scheme.
