The repair work of Jagamohan wall in the Shreemandir here was delayed at least by two and a half hours on the first day on Wednesday.

Sources said the Jagamohan repair work, which was scheduled to begin at 11 am on Wednesday, started after 2 pm due to delay in rituals of the lords.

The Singhadwar of the temple, supposed to open at 2 am, was unlocked at 4:20 am while the inner gate opened at 4:40 am. Mangal Alati was performed at 5:20 am.

Earlier on Monday, a meeting was convened by Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief Administrator Suresh Chandra Mohapatra with servitors of the temple representing the seven Nijogs to ensure hassle-free renovation work.

“The rituals will begin at 2 am and will be streamlined within 2-3 days. For renovation, first the scaffolding will be put up and then the removal of coating will be done. The devotees can have darshan of the deities staying within the barricade,” said Mohapatra. The repair work would be conducted from 11 am to 6 pm every day.  Devotees would be allowed 22 hours a day for lords’ darshan during the repairing period, sources said.
