Police detained the local manager of the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) here and started investigations after the Food Corporation of India (FCI) on Saturday filed an FIR in connection with large-scale rice irregularities in the warehouse.
Sources said the FCI had to file the police complaint after it did not get any reports on the missing 689.84 tonnes of rice worth nearly `1.72 crore stored in the warehouse since last November 18.
The police is trying to interrogate the detained official to know further information.
