The Bhadrak district Collector on Thursday suspended the Darlang Revenue Inspector (RI) of Dhamnagar tehsil after he was caught on camera demanding bribe from a person for issuing a caste certificate.
The action was taken against Tapas Ranjan Jena with immediate effect. During the period of suspension, the headquarters of Jena has been fixed at the Sub-Collector’s office in Bhadrak. He will not leave headquarters without prior permission of the competent authority.
A person had applied for a caste certificate for his daughter. Jena demanded Rs 500 for issuing the certificate. The applicant expressed his inability to pay the amount. But later he paid Rs 500 and got the certificate. An unidentified person had shot the video of the RI demanding and accepting the bribe which later went viral on social media.
