Though 10 days have already passed after the Fani ravaged various Bastis of Ward-26 under the Vyasanagar Municipality, no single Government official came to assess the loss and provide relief and compensation to the victims.
The local RI committed irregularities, alleged many affected people. The matter was brought to the notice of Tehsildar, Vyasanagar Niranjan Behera by social worker Dushmanta Rout and Behera instructed for field verification, but the RI without carrying out the instructions allegedly prepared reports arbitrarilyby sitting at his office.He selected affected houses by whims, alleged many.
In Ward-2 of Panasia Basti, the house of Ashok Das, Ramesh Das, Rabindra Das, Tukun Das, Laxmidhar Nayak etc. were fully collapsed in the storm, but the RI didn’t visit them even 10 days after the Fani devastation.
Similar types of monopoly attitude of the said RI was noticed at Wards-3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 17, 24, 25 and 26 etc, alleged many affected people.
The families of Ramesh Das, Ashok Das, Bideshi Mohapatra took shelter at Panasia Club for 10 days. The Bastis like Panasia, Padmapur, Mundamal, Dai Sahi, Rampas, Chunavati and Satakania have not properly verified by the RI. Many people urge for intervention of the RDC (Central) in the issue.
