The Rayagada police would take Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda on remand for interrogation in connection with 21 cases pending against him in Rayagada district, informed South Western Range IG YK Jethwa on Friday.

“For further investigation and collection of evidence, the Rayagada police will take Panda on remand,” said Jethwa, adding, “After interrogation, it will be clear whether he was involved in the cases or not.” According to police sources, Panda was involved in a number of Maoist incidents, including the murder of politicians Madhab Sabar and Jajati Sahu, in Rayagada district that started from the year 2000.

The police would request the Rayagada SDJM Court to allow them for taking Panda on remand very soon.
