The residents of the new bank colony of Chhend here submitted a memorandum to the Rourkela ADM on Thursday urging him to make necessary arrangement for construction of an approach road to the colony from the ring road soon.
According to the residents, they have been demanding the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) authority for last two years for the approach road but in vain. So they urged the ADM to take necessary steps for the construction of the road.
They also said when both the RSP authority and the district administration are taking initiatives for construction of roads to different unauthorised slums, there should not be any problem in laying the approach road to the colony. There is no problem in acquiring the land too as a land allotment committee has approved of the land to be given for the road, they said.
Despite this, the RSP authority and the district administration are apathetic to their demands for last many years. The only narrow kucha road connecting the colony with the main road is not motorable throughout the year, they lamented.
