As per their earlier call by the Rourkela Bar Association (RBA), the lawyers of Rourkela court are on a strike from Monday demanding early removal of District Consumers’ Redressal Forum, Rourkela president and Members from their positions.
The RBA has alleged that for the past few days the president and Members of the redressal forum have been acting unethically. These matters were brought to the notice of Consumer Welfare Minister, the concerned Commissioner and other competent authorities for appropriate action. As no steps were taken from their end, the RBA members were forced to go on the strike.
The consumer court has been locked out by the agitating lawyers since Monday. “Unless our demands are addressed, we will continue the strike,” warned RBA president Ramesh Bal.
It is to be mentioned that last month a dispute between the consumer court president and the RBA had landed in the Uditnagar police station.
