The Industrial Police of Baleswar arrested a 33- year-old man on the charge of posting derogatory remarks against a woman in social media after opening a fake account.
The accused, identified as Abhishek Panda , a resident of Damodarpur village under Town Police Station was forwarded to court after being booked under various Sections of IPC and IT Act. He was further sent to jail on rejection of his bail plea under judicial custody.
According to the IIC Paresh Rout, in order to detect the culprit of the fake account holder, the help of Facebook from its headquarter in California was taken.
The accused had operated the account under the name of Maharana Pratap Singh. During investigation, the SIM used for the purpose and from where he procured the same was known, he said.
The husband of the woman had lodged a complaint with police on June14 last. Since then, the police were investigating the case.
According to sources, the victim is wife of a scribe and accused is son of a woman leader of a particular political party.
