A religious place at Neulapur village under the Dharmasala police station of Jajpur district was desecrated by unknown persons on Thursday night.

“Some miscreants with shovels damaged the tomb of saint Parababa in Neulapur village. Muslims worship it. The situation in the locality is peaceful. Patrolling has been intensified with deployment of additional police force,” said Dharmasala police station IIC Amitav Mohaptra.

Following a complaint, police have registered a case under Section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion) and 295 (whoever destroys, damages or defiles any place of worship, or any object held sacred by any class of persons) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against unidentified persons, added the police officer.
