A weeklong ‘Regional printmaking workshop’ organised by the lalit Kala Akademi, Bhubaneswar Regional Centre, concluded with an exhibition of graphics and etching medium on Friday.

Artists Nitin Yogi, Gauri and Anil S Jeri from Madhya Pradesh; Rakesh Bani and Rabinarayan Gupta from Chhattishgarh; Samya Bharati, Alok Prabhakar and Vicky Verma from Bihar; Avijeet Singh and Rekha Prasad from Jharkhand; Hrusikesh Biswal, Trinath Mohanty and Subrat Kumar Behera from Odisha and senior artist Ajit Seal from West Bengal participated in the event.

Accomplished art works in arduous etching and aquatint mediums reflected dexterity of all participants. The valediction ceremony had an exhibition showcasing works created by all 14 artists during the weeklong workshop.

“Techniques and facilities have definitely increased. Contemporary artists should use facilities and enhance exposure,” says eminent london-based Odia painter and writer Prafulla Mohanti. As chief guest of the valedictory ceremony, he felicitated the participants, who shared their workshop experiences and learning.

“This workshop is an attempt to encourage student interaction to share knowledge and experience,” says lalit Kala Akademi Regional Secretary-in-Charge Ramahari Jena. Noted painter and art historian Dinanath Pathy appreciated the initiative. “Such workshops should be organised on a regular basis to facilitate interaction between artists at the national level,” he suggested.
