A community awareness programme was organised by the Family Counselling Centre of the Indian Red Cross Society, State branch (IRCS-OSB) at Science Park Basti here on Wednesday.
The programme involving local residents, including adolescent girls, women, was inaugurated by State Social Welfare Board Chairperson Nibedita Nayak. BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena, IRCS-OSB Secretary Dr Chakradhar Panda and Corporator Puspanjali Sahoo joined the event as guests of honour. The event aimed at promoting family counselling among the people, especially women. Counsellors Bijayalaxmi Kar and Pritiprangya Dash discussed on various issues like dowry, extra-marital affairs, economic crisis, mental illness and Interference of in-laws, etc. During the session, different techniques and benefits of hand wash were also demonstrated.
