PNS

Utkal Bharat president Kharabela Swain on Thursday slammed the State Government for providing Re 1-a-kg rice and introducing Rs 5-per-meal Aahar scheme and thereby making people lazy.

“The the Naveen Patnaik-led Government has made people lazy by introducing Re 1-a-kg rice and Rs 5-per-meal Aahar scheme,” Swain, a former MP, told a Press Conference here.

He too came down heavily on the Government for multicrore chit fund scam in which politicians, film actors and lawyers have been involved. He demanded that strong action be taken against them soon and the money returned to chit fund investors soon.

He also alleged irregularities in construction IAY houses, toilets, roads and houses under other schemes.

Swain lamented that the parts of funds, which he had arranged through different sources for reconstruction works after 2008 floods, were still lying idle.

“A huge amount was lying unspent in the Red Cross as it is not used for the purpose for which it had been generated,” alleged Swain.

He said the Baleswar Municipality, which was rebuilt with MP lAD fund during his tenure, had not been maintained. Similarly, development works initiated in the Soro Municipality during his period, had not yet been completed, he alleged.

Swain mafias have been active in different sectors due to connivance between the BJD and BJP.

He further opined that the MDM scheme has hampered teaching in primary schools. He claimed that his party Utkal Bharat would come to power in State in 2019.

On the occasion, Swain announced names of his party’s Baleswar district committee members.

Among others, Ajay Pradhan, Gopal Raul and Mahendra  Mahapatra were present.
