Ravenshaw MBA students demand recruitment cell

PNS

Students of the Ravenshaw University MBA Department have been holding a dharna in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s office from October 25 and have submitted a memorandum to the VC pressing for their demands.

Their demands include appointment of a dean for the MBA Department, a permanent placement officer for the MBA for all specialised streams like human resource, marketing and others.

The students alleged that they have been shelling out Rs 3.5 lakh for the course and while asking for placement the authorities are showing an indifferent attitude towards their demands.

A student, Sambit Tripathy, alleged, “The in-charge dean is not responding to our requests and instead of finding a solution, said “I am not responsible for this. When we approached him, he didn’t’ accept the memorandum and we were forced to meet the Vice-Chancellor,” he added.

Another student, Dipika Pal, alleged, “The department is not taking any steps for in-campus or off-campus recruitment. We have been a major source of income for the university as the university takes the course fees. But the university does not even conduct a recruitment drive. We have been sent to attend interviews which were called for undergraduates for BPOs and others,” she added.

Chiranjeeb Sahu, Aanakar Rout, Akansha Mahapatra, Bharti Kumari Soumyaranjan Rout and many other students also levelled similar allegations.
