The auspicious Rath Yatra was celebrated with much religious fervour here on Thursday with thousands of devotees experiencing the holy moments.
According to tradition, the priests mounted the deities on their respective chariots performing the rites of Pahandi and Chherapanhara, following which the chariots were pulled to the Mausi Maa temple.
The chariot of Lord Balabhadra was ahead of those of Lord Jagannath and their sister Devi Subhadra.
The district administration made elaborate security arrangements by deploying 11 platoons of police. District Collector Anupam Saha and SP Sara Sharma, SDPO Thakur Pratap Patra, other district officials and members of the Rath Yatra managing committee were present.
