POCSO Judge Sanjeeb Kumar Bhera convicted one Prasanna Kumar Digal (42) in a rape case involving a minor girl aged 3years and sentenced him to undergo 25years of jail term and imposed a fine Rs 25,000 on him.
The incident happened on August 20, 2019 evening when the victim child was playing in front of her home. Digal lured her by giving her a
chocolate to an isolated place near a church and raped her.
The mother and a relative of the victim while searching the victim found her in front of the church varanda and saw the accused running away from the place. The next day, the mother of the victim lodged an FIR at G Udayagiri police station. The police registered the case and arrested Digal and forwarded him to court. The Judge pronounced the order on the basis of a doctor’s report and evidence of 12 witnesses.
He also ordered Rs 6 lakh compensation to the victim by the Government. Special Public Prosecutor Ashwin Praharaj conducted the case.
