Raped minor delivers twin girls, critical

PNS

A 13-year-old girl, who was sexually exploited by a minor boy and staying in a short stay home at Sundargarh after being pregnant, has delivered twin girls.

The  accused, being  a minor,  is now  moving  scot  free,  since  he was  granted  bail for being  a juvenile  after  surrendering  himself in  court.

The victim girl’s parents are daily labourers. Finding the girl alone after her parents go out for work, the accused had kept physical relation with her. However, when she turned pregnant, her parents had lodged a complaint in Sundargarh sadar police station on March 27 following which the police had registered a case.

The accused minor boy was absconding and later, surrendered himself in court. He was, however, granted bail being a juvenile.

Following her labor pain, she was admitted in the District Headquarters Hospital, Sundargarh on Thursday, where she delivered the twins, but had turned critical, due to profound bleeding. She was sent to the VIMSAR, Burla, during evening. "Since her condition had worsened, she was shifted to VIMSAR Burla by us for her better check up," said CDMO Uday Bhanu Das, adding that two of her newborns are at SNCU unit in Sundargarh DHH.

Social activists here, however, demanded arrangements for the future of the victim girl and her babies. "The victim girl and her two newborns now need special care, which should be provided by the district administration," said activist Himansu Sarangi.
