Rally restricted under Police Act

PNS

The organisers of rally or meeting in Sundargarh have to take prior permission from police under Section 30 of Police Act. The district police announced this to maintain peace in Sundargarh in the wake of a communal clash over Facebook postings in which a group of Muslim youths had attacked a Hindu youth.

The police are also contemplating to take action against the persons who had organized a bike rally two days back in protest of the incident. Five platoons of police were deployed to maintain law and order on Monday. Romi Nakhani had been attacked by one Faisal Hussain over the former’s posting of a picture and comments on Owaisi Hussain on Friday.

Hussain had an altercation with Romi and another Charan Nakhani near Sundargarh Municipality. Hussain soon picked up a hockey stick and hit on the head of Romi, following which the latter was seriously injured.

First, he was rushed to the Sundargarh District Headquarters Hospital and subsequently, shifted to the Burla MCH as his condition deteriorated. An FIR was lodged by Charan Nakhani against Hussain and his three other friends for beating them. Hussain and his two other friends also lodged an FIR against Nakhani and Charan.

“We have announced in public about Section 30 of the Police Act to make people aware about the law, so that in future before organising any rally or procession or meeting, they have to take permission from the police.” Town Police station IIC PK Jena.
