The Brahmapur Marwari Mahila Samiti (MMS), a socio-cultural organisation led by its president Mamata Choudhury and secretary Ruby Khamani organised a human organ donation awareness programme at the Khallikote College ground here on Saturday in collaboration with the Inner Wheel Club (IWC) of Brahmapur.
Prior to the meeting, hundreds of members of both Marwari Mahila Samiti and Inner Wheel Club came in a rally holding placard on the hand to sensitize and motivate public to come forward to donate human organs after death to persons.
The rally started from Girija junction and terminated at Khallikote College Ground covering almost two-km ddistance.
The event was recorded in the India Book of Records, sources said. The members while participating in the rally were chanting slogans like “ Anga Daan-Mahat Daan”, “Swarga Mein Chahiye Sthan Kijiye Anga Daan” and so on.
President of IWC Sonali Hazra, secretary Amita Das, PRO Ratnamani Cotton and Sasmita and members of Sabuj Bahini and Anchalika Vikash Parishad also participated in the rally.
Local MLA Bikram Panda was guest of honour on the occasion. Among others, Mamata Bisoyi, Sanghamitra Dalai, Ratnamani Cotton, former Professor of Opthalmology of MKCG Medical College Prof B Nageswar Rao Subudhi were present.
