The three-day long Rajarani Music Festival began within the precincts of the 11th century Rajarani Temple here on Wednesday.
The inaugural evening featured Ustad Rashid Khan and Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.
Ustad Khan started with raag Marwa. It followed two thumris-“Yaad pita ki aaye…” and “Sajani tum kab aaoge..”. A hundred per cent tuneful unblemished voice with tremendous melodic appeal left the audience spellbound.
Pt Bhatt next came only to mesmerise the music lovers with his own invention Mohan Veena. His concert was divided into two parts — classical and semi-classical. He chose Raag Bihag to start his recital. With “Bande Maataram…”, “Vaisnaba Janato…” and “ Raghupati Raghaba….” he concluded his recital. His Mohan Veena badan was most enticing.
The lights on the tree, Pipli appliqué work lanterns and manicured garden created an allegory of Darbari parampara.
