Continuing their investigation into the mysterious death of actor Ranjit Patnaik alias Raja, the Soro police on Saturday took the three suspects, Pralipta Priyadarshini Samal aka Jessy, driver Dhaneswar and event coordinator Pralay, who had accompanied Raja, to the death spot and also interrogated them.
“The trio was taken near the bridge from where Raja allegedly fell off. They demonstrated how Raja fell off the bridge and how they tried to rescue him. We found the versions of all them almost matching. However, a polygraph test would be conducted on the trio most likely within a week,” said Soro police station IIC Parsuram Sahoo.
Meanwhile, the trio was released from the police station on personal recognisance (PR) bonds after the end of questioning.
Sources said a six-member team led by Soro PS IIC Sahoo taking Khandapada PS IIC Surendra Nayak, Baleswar Industrial Estate police PS IIC Paresh Rout, Sudarshan Das of Remuna police station and two other cops were formed for investigation of the case. The cops took the trio to the accident spot along with the vehicle they were travelling in.
Notably, Raja was returning after performing in a stage show by the Kalinga Kanya Gananatya at Taranka Tipisigadia under Makhanpur panchayat under Khaira block in Baleswar district when the incident took place.
Raja reportedly had a heated argument with Jessy in the vehicle and latter got down from the car. Minutes later, the car driver heard a scream under the bridge. He went down only to find Raja seriously wounded.
