PNS

The local Meteorological department here on Friday forecast that parts of Odisha would experience moderate rainfall during next 48 hours due to a low-pressure area formed over southern part of the State.

Showers are expected as water vapours are flowing in western and southern parts of Odisha, the office said in its forecast, adding that rains will also occur at some places under the influence of hailstorm. Though there has been a slight fall in day temperature across the State, the mercury level was still hovering at around 40 degrees Celsius in many towns on Friday. Hirakud recorded highest temperature of 41.01 degree Celsius followed by Talcher recording 41 degrees Celsius, Sambalpur 40.08 degrees Celsius, Bhawanipatna 40.05 degrees Celsius, while capital city Bhubaneswar sizzled at 40.04 degrees Celsius. Among other towns, Jharsuguda, Titilagarh, Sonepur and Sundergarh also registered temperature above 40 degrees Celsius.
