Rourkela Shramik Sangh (RSS) president Prasant Behera during a tour to New Delhi in the wake of the signing of a wage revision agreement with the Steel Authority of India limited (SAIl) management for workers and contract workers met Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and urged him to take necessary steps for enhancement of retirement age of workers from 60 years to 62 years.
Behera said he also urged Gandhi for restraining the SAIl management from going ahead with its proposal for gratuity ceiling and revoke a ceiling in bonus and pension. Gandhi assured to look into the matters, informed Behera.
On NJCS agreement, Behera said prior to it the employees of Nalco, BHEl and Coal India were at a better position than SAIl but now the latter will be more financially benefitted.
He also praised the united fight of the NJCS members to have a respectable wage pact with SAIl management on January 25.
