Congress president Rahul Gandhi has hailed Rourkela youth Muktikanta’s march to Delhi for reminding Prime Minister Narendra Modi about his two promises he had made three years ago to establish a multi-speciality hospital and construct the second Brahmani bridge in Rourkela.
"The PM had promised Rourkela a multi-speciality hospital three years ago. Now, Muktikanta Biswal has walked 1,300 km to Delhi because the PM has not kept his promise and people are dying,” Rahul Twitted on Sunday.
He assured that the Congress would keep Modi’s promises if voted to power. Muktikanta (29), who had started his journey from Rourkela on April 16, covered about 1,350 km reach Agra. However, he was sick and hospitalised for three days there. He left Agra for Delhi on Sunday on foot.
Muktikant posted Rahul Gandhi’s message on Facebook account. “On my way to New Delhi, I have got overwhelming support from different quarters but Rahul Gandhi's tweet on Sunday has encouraged me further,” said Muktikanta over phone.
“Although I am only 250 km away from my destination, I was a little apprehensive of proceeding further as I became sick and recovered on Saturday, said Biswal.
Significantly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a public meeting at Rourkela on April 1, 2015, had promised that his Government would take steps to fulfil two much-awaited demands of Rourkela people, one upgrading the Ispat General
Hospital to a super-speciality hospital and construction of a second bridge over the Brahmani river.“Though the construction of the second Brahamani bridge has started only in last week, I hope I will get an appointment from the PM and will be able to explain about the objective of my journey," Biswal told The Pioneer on his way from Agra to Delhi.
