The healthiness of a country’s human resource and society depends on quality health services provided to its people, viewed experts at a seminar organised by the Orissa Environmental Society (OES) here on the occasion of World Health Day on Saturday.

“As a good health makes mind healthy, every citizen should be provided quality health services even if he is unable to afford for the same. The Government should provide quality health services to get a healthy society and healthy human resource,” said speakers.

They lamented that more than 50 per cent people of the work are still deprived of getting minimum health services.

Mentioning that the United Nations has adopted a slogan “Health for all”, they said a strong will at political level only can help people get quality health services irrespective of their economic conditions.

OES president Dr Sundar Narayan Patra presided over the meeting where SUM Hospital Research Director Dr Santanu Kumar Kar attended as the chief guest and Apollo Hospital Nephrology Chief Dr Nisith Kumar Mohanty as chief speaker.

They also discussed about the reasons of spread of diseases like high blood pressure, diabetics, kidney and heart and stressed on creating awareness about various contagious diseases.

At the outset, Science Centre Curator Dr Jaykrushna Panigrahi delivered welcome address. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Science Centre Education Officer Rabindra Nath Marandi.
