Expressing dissatisfaction over the tardy progress of the restoration work being carried out at Puri Jagannath Temple by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the custodian of the 12th century shrine, the Jagannath Temple Administration (JTA), threatened to move High Court for its intervention.
“The High Court in March this year directed the ASI to complete the restoration work of the temple within three months. But even though eight months have elapsed, no visible improvement has been experienced. As the Nabakalebar festival is scheduled for July 2015, it has become very urgent to complete the revamp. Hence, we have decided to move the court against ASI,” said Temple Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee.
Servitors of the temple too blamed the ASI for not completing the repair work within the stipulated period.
