Italy-born Odissi dancer Padmashree Ileana Citaristi, who was allegedly manhandled by two servitors (Daitapatis) atop the chariot of lord Jagannath in Puri on July 21, on Monday agreed to withdraw cases to solve the unpalatable incident amicably.
“A group of Daitapatis headed by Daitapati Nijog chief Ramkrusha Das Mohapatra met me at my residence on Sunday and approached me not go for a legal battle on the issue and solve the problem amicably instead. I agreed to their proposal,” said Citaristi. Meanwhile, the Puri SDJM court granted bail to Krushna Chandra Mohapatra against whom Citaristi had brought assault charge.
“We met her at her residence in Bhubaneswar and decided to solve the issue amicably. There was a communication gap between her and the servitors,” said Daitapati chief Das Mohapatra.
Notably, following the incident of July 21, Citaristi had lodged a complaint with the Puri Jagannath Temple Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee, who had asked the Singhadwar police to carry out an investigation.
