Puri seer wants India as a ‘Hindu Rashtra’

KAHNU NANDA

Puri Govardhan Pitha Shankaracharya Swami Nishchalananda Saraswat attending an all-India saints and religious preachers’ congregation at the Gomati Ashram in Raghunathpur in Jagatsinghpur district pleaded to make India a ‘Hindu Rashtra’.
He opined that Veda is the principle of Sanatan Dharma; Hindus were ancestors of everyone; and the ideas of Sanatan Dharma are properly conveyed in versions of the Vedas, Upanishad and Puran; but the present generation disobeys the value and code enshrined in Sanatan Dharma.
“Our Indian political leaders are mostly ignorant about dharma and policies; they are even unconscious of political definition. Leaders are taking recourse to vote bank power politics. Gaining power is not politics when a policy is adopted to make individuals and society self-reliant and cultured by the religious faith that is politics,” Swamiji explained.
Moreover, politics is Rajdharma (Duty of Ruler) and policy and dharma are its alternative names; the policy of the government is the development of society, but that should not be at the cost of damaging the environment, natural resources and human living. Political people ought to consult with saints and pastors advancing any policy decision of governance; altogether, our aim should be to make India a Hindu Rashtra in the future, Swamiji suggested.
Gomati Ashram founder Babaji Akshaya Devdas Maharaj emphasised on educating the younger generation about spiritualism and Hindu Dharma so that they can achieve peace, happiness and prosperity in their lives.

About two hundred saints, pastors and other religious preachers from across the country participated in this conclave organised from February 1 to 5.
